One note on loan modifications. We have seen that loan modifications of loans held by large banks such as Bank of America, Chase, IndyMac, Wells Fargo etc take longer in 2009 than they did in 2008. This is in part due to the fact that lenders are not caught up on their work load of loan modifications. Also typically lenders now offer only a temporary three months loan modification. After expiration of the three months the lender will require the borrower to resubmit new financial information and a new review is initiated by the lender. Some people get denied at this stage.
